My Journey In Football (So Far...)
I’m Jack! A professional, passionate and enthusiastic football coach, driven by the ability to change young people’s lives and help them in the next steps of their sport journey! This all begun from playing local grassroots football in Skegness to volunteering as a teenager, following the footsteps of my grandad’s football career!
When leaving Skegness at 18 years of age, I quickly found myself on a challenging learning journey through academia, supported by coaching and scouting within football academies, coaching internationally and identifying the next young talent to prepare for these environments. My journey has been built around providing opportunity, growing confidence and transfering my knowledge and experience into young people’s skill and love for football!
Coaching experience with Liverpool FC and other top organisations
How It All Started
Growing in Skegness, with a lack of opportunities into football for my development and progression, at 15 years of age i’d already found a goal to work towards! Volunteering for positive futures at 15 years of age, led me receiving a volunteer of the month award from
Lincolnshire County Council — a recognition of my commitment, care, and passion for community projects. But more importantly, opening my eye’s to the desperate need and value in helping young people.
Continuing into sixth form with Skegness Academy, saw this passion grow and realising the value in moving away from the area into football, which saw me go to Manchester to study BA (Hons) Football Coaching & Management at UCFB Etihad Campus.
My journey initially allowed me to gain experience as a First-Team Opposition Analyst for Chorley F.C. and as a Video Scout for Spanish club Vélez C.F., where I was later promoted to lead a team of scouts.
Expanding Experience at Home and Abroad
Following my first year at UCFB, I joined Stockport County Community Trust, delivering sessions across a range of programmes including disability football, veterans, refugee support, HAF, and Premier League Kicks. Working with people of all backgrounds and walk’s of life, being key in me building strong coach-athlete relationships.
Networking, delivering coaching sessions and development allowed doors to open up, into a scouting role, working closely with academy coaches/scouts to identify talent across the north-west.
Following a year’s experience, I was offered the opportunity to coach in North America with Challenger Sports’ Pro Camp programme. I travelled across 12 states and into Canada, coaching players aiming to enter the U.S. college system, alongside staff with experience in both the professional and collegiate game.
Developing Futsal & Coaching at the Highest Level
When I returned to the UK, I returned to roles at Stockport County. But took an additional role to become the university’s Futsal Manager. Over 12 months, I led the programme’s expansion from 5 players to 24, adding new teams and staff while competing nationally against top-level sides.
My passion for Futsal has remained strong and lots of learning and success, saw us become recognised and since opened a role with Futsal Camp UK, working with UEFA A licensed coaches to help young player’s from Spain and Portugal through the game I love!
A year competing in top tournaments, learning the futsal way and travelling across the country to compete at a high level. I graduated with first-class honours, receiving Student’s Student of the Year and Best in Class for Football Coaching and Management.
Post Graduation
Since completing university in Manchester. I couldn’t resist further learning and led to postgraduate studies in MSc Sport Coaching, where I moved to Liverpool. As a result, I was offered a role with Liverpool F.C.’s International Academy as a soccer school coach, working in the UK and overseas. Whilst also balancing a role with Liverpool F.C Foundation, back on community projects where my heart really lies.
